Nickname Rules?

So yesterday my mom started asking me how I spelt Maddie? I said M-a-d-d-i-e and she was like "what?", then proceded to tell me that I can't nickname her that because it had two Ds. I didn't know there was a rule. Then she started suggesting alternative spelling and Jon spoke telling me how he would have spelt it. So here's my question and I'm looking for feedback. How would you spell it?

Maddie?
Madee?
Maddy?

Another Post

Trying to show how teeny she is.

I love holding her on my chest. She is the best cuddler, second to Jon of course :) since he'll probably read this.

She's deffinetly a momma's girl. Jon would say otherwise. She's laying on her hands in this picture. She has this thing with her hands ALWAYS being right next to her face. Its adorable.

She feels like a little doll in my arms. Can't wait to show her off to you guys.

ALMOST, I took a million and this was the closest I got with both eyes open. She's a sleeper.

FYI
Mom and baby Maddie should be going home tomorrow. Thank goodness Gma Lorraine will be home with them so things can get done. I took some pictures tonight because she never opens her eyes but she's been quite alert this evening. Hope that means she's fully recovering. Who would have thought that I'd love to hear her cry.

Pictures as promised

So this is the ONLY picture I took while pregnant bc I didn't really care to remember the fat times. Funny cause it was only a week or two ago.

DAY 1: Where our little girl was taken the day she was born, she is a tiny miracle.

DAY 2: Mom took this picture, she had a cute bow & Gma W. made these cute burp cloths.

DAY 2: She was covering her eyes with her extremely long sleeves while Jon was feeding her. Nothing fits her.

DAY 2: Maddie attached to all her cords, which made it difficult to hold or feed her.

DAY 2: Don't be scared by both of our IVs. Mom is burping Maddie, she is such a good burper.

DAY 2: Mom bawled like a baby when she saw her lil baby connected to all these cords and in an isolete.

DAY 2: Dad changing Maddie's diaper for the first time, even before mom If only that would keep up:)

DAY 2: Mom was still in a wheel chair.

DAY 2: Pretty much mom just loves to look at her and kiss her. Ahh crazy hair.

DAY 1: Dad in the transitional nursery creating a bond with his new daughter before mom got to see her, boo.

DAY 1: This was the nitrogen wash (never seen a thing like it) probably saved her precious little life. These are new born diapers (they wrap around her twice).

Our Smallest But Biggest Miracle

So it is official Madelyn Jean Heslop is here born October 24th 2008 @ 11:54 am. She weighed a whoopin 5 lbs 8 oz and was 19 and 3/4 inches long. Our little tiny miracle.

So here is her story. Julee went in for her weekly appointment on Thursday the 23rd. The big concern was her blood pressure, it had been alittle high for a while. So she went in and had her test and the doctor came to her and said "Julee go to the hospital" and Julee's response was "what do you mean" and the doctor said "I'm not joking go to the hospital I will see you in a little awhile". So I got a call from Julee balwing and telling me she was headed to the hospital and that I needed to get there soon. I was shocked. So I called anyone I could to find out what I needed to take to the hospital. So there we were in the hospital Julee getting ready for labor. So they started by giving her some cytotech because she wasn't dialated hardly at all and it was supposed to help her progress. Well this went on all night. Poor Julee did not get any sleep all night. Luckily we had help. My friends mom aka my second mom Karen Jones came to help. Julee's cousin Amanda came as well and ended up staying w/ Julee all night. The next morning the contractions were getting really strong this was after the 3rd pill that was supposed to get things moving and boy did it ever. She jumped to a plus 4 in dialation terms and finally was offered the epidural. She said really I can have it already? The nurse says sure you're progressing really fast and in half an hour the doctor will be in to break your water. She responded well ok lets do it. It was funny to see the change in her attitude. She said she loved the anthetiolgist wanted to give him a high five (she sang his praises the rest of the day). She was ready to have the baby. We were waiting and as the contractions were getting stronger and stronger the baby's heart beat was a little off. Until they kept putting Julee on oxygen hoping she would settle down. But her breathing patterns were never right and she was holding her breath during the peaks of the contractions. This went on for a while until the nurse got nervous enough (thank goodness) and the doctor was call decided that she needed to come right then by C-section. Holy crap was that weird.

Here is the good stuff. We suited up and went in for surgery. I thought it was a neat experience. They started to paint Julee's belly and kept asking if there was really a baby inside. Then as I was just sitting there talking to Julee behind the sheet I accidentally looked over and saw the knife starting to cut her stomach. At first I cringed but yet I couldn't look away, the next thing I knew there was a little baby pulled out of her stomach. I was shocked and said something to the effect of "oh my goodness" and then they pulled out the placenta that was weird. Well the next thing I knew were asking dad into the other room with the baby. It was different because she was real blue in color. To keep it short she wasn't making alot of effort to breathe so they did alot of testing and put her in the NICU. Apparently she had air around her lung which caused it to colaspe hence the bad reaction to the contractions. The doctors said that placenta had pretty much become worthless. Then anetisologist said if we had waited to take her vaginally she wouldn't have made it. Phew! That is why she is indeed our little miracle. Well she was in the NICU for alittle over 24 hrs but she has improved so much that this evening they have finally moved her into the regular nursery. So now we're able to bring into our room instead of wheeling chairing Julee all across the floor to see her baby for an hour only to return in less than two hours. Can I just say we have the cutest little baby ever. Sorry about not having pictures I forgot the cord to hook the camera to the computer. We will have them soon.

Mom and baby are totally off all cords, IVs, today. But both are still being closely monitored. Thanks to everyone who has helped us so far in this experience with your phone calls, presents, and prayers. We couldn't be happier.

Love- Jon, Julee, & Maddie

My out of the ordinary experience

This is jon writing not julee so alot of you might not be interested but thats just tough luck for you. So as some of you may know I have been bitten by the weightlifting bug( I know there is no such thing but that sounded good). so anyhow i go about 3 to 4 times a week and have been making alot of progress. Well I was at the gym and i had done my whole back routine and was pretty tired but i wanted to do some shoulder work. I for some reason went and got my friend jerrek who works at the gym and funny enough is also considered my step brother as wierd as that may sound. Well I was doing some overhead presses and was on my last set, I pressed it with a little bit of struggle and then was bringing it down and all i remember was setting it on the ground. The next thing I know I am on the ground feeling like i just took a nap and there are three other guys standing around me and my friend jerrek running to a phone. By what they tell me is I set it down and passed out and with all my momentum going forward it threw me into the benchpress bench and I hit my head. When I got up I felt fine but I had a Huge goose egg on my head. That was my first experience with passings out or being knocked out. I think it was kind of funny but also a little embarrassing. I conclusion of this story I am just glad Julee wasn't their that night. She would have freaked out.
In other news Julee went to the doctor and Little Madelyn ( that is her name for now) weighs 5 and 1/2 pounds to my suprise. I thought for sure we would have a monster baby considering I was 9 pounds 10 ounces and julee is a walker. well that is about it from us today.
Three weeks to go and I get to hold my little girl. Yay.

McKay Dee Hospital

Here it is....McKay Dee hospital. We spent 8 hours here today learning about what we'd be doing in less than 4 weeks if all goes according to plan. Its a very nice hospital but as we tour the 4th floor in labor & delivery department I began to remember how the smell of a hospital is incredibly nauseating. Jon was a good sport putting up with the childbirthing class that we had to do in one day because my schedule wouldn't allow me to do otherwise. At the beginning of the class I introduced us and then the "partner" was supposed to say three nice things about the mom. I was alittle curious as to what he would say. He said he loved me for putting up with his hobbies expensive at times, he said he loved me for being a hard worker and working through this last month, and he said he loved me cause even when we fight we ended up laughing together. I thought it was cute, some of the other husbands said some pretty weird crap about liking their wives because they were the emotional one of the relationship?? I didn't follow. Jon said I looked the smallest in my class which I've decided between trying to go to the gym and working everyday probably has done my body some good in the end. Anyway I learned A TON and asked ALL the questions. Jon said he already knew everything, and I'm still getting goosebumps from all three birthing videos that we had to watch. Two of which were natural and produced in the 70s yeah so gross. But all in all the RN that taught it was awesome and really patient. I feel good now about my decision to do an epidural bc I feel much more educated on the subject. I'm thinking I'm ready to go but we'll see what the doc. says on Monday. Jon and I went to Wingers for lunch, haven't eaten there for like years it was a fun day for me. This evening I finally got the cleaning fever and got my bumb out of the bed and started cleaning....like cleaning stuff that hasn't been touched for months. I even lit candles to make the house smell good. It was so rewarding and yet there is SOOOO much more to do. Maybe Monday.

Recently...

So I had another doctor appt. yesterday found out baby girl weighs 5.0 lbs I was expecting more maybe in hopes that I would deliver sooner. Jon's expecting a chubby little thing, because he was 9 lbs 10 oz and thinks that all Walkers have "Walker babies" like we're some mass producing large breed. Nice huh? My coworker told me her first baby was 5.5 lbs so crazy. Baby seems healthy though and the doc told me next appt. she'd know if I was making any progress. Everyone keeps telling me I'm small & that I should be larger. My mother in law while visiting before leaving for her said I looked skinnier except for the obivious belly (which isn't true and the scale will prove that). Its kind of embarrassing cause I'd hate to find out that my due date was off a month or something weird or maybe I'll just balloon up this next month. I don't know I've got some evidence to prove my belly has stretched but I sure wish she'd just grow already and get out. I can't sleep at night and whatever she's doing in there is really starting to hurt. We're going to buy our jogging stroller/car seat set from Target this weekend. We're pretty excited.
Oh and tomorrow we're going to YES....another mission reunion, I'll be grateful for when we don't live in Utah. Oops Jon will probably read this. Last time wasn't too bad.
Jon took his young men the two of them to Bronco Mendenhall's (the BYU football coach) fireside at the tabernacle tonight. They got there an hour early and when I drove by their were cars everywhere! Must be good.
So yesterday I cut my hair again dang it. Even though I love my sister in law for putting up with my neediness. The back it shorter than the front so the front still has some length, and everyone at work loved it. Wish they would have told me that I looked shaggy before. Its alittle spunky and blonde kind of like my previous styles. I'll try to keep you updated.
